So, I’ve been all but ready to write Little Miss Maya off since she became a billionaire by insertion and dropped /\/\ /\ Y /\ [sidenote: woof, what a fucking album name], but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the release of Matangi, so much so that I can withstand the epilepsy-inducing video for “Y.A.L.A” (You Always Live Again).
Why wasn’t I born with a silver spoon in my mouth?!?! Seriously, somebody buy me all of the things NOW!
Every quarter I go through my seasonal freak out where I obsess over the fact that I’m not “ready” for the incoming weather/trends/change in general. I start purchasing crewnecks and bomber jackets en masse, order buckets of body polish to keep the winter skin at bay, and my nails aren’t spared from the worry, either. Up until yesterday, I was rocking Essie’s The More the Merrier, and let me tell you, nothing screams fall less than a neon green mani, so it’s about that time, ya’ll. I need some new laquer in my life. I need Deborah Lippman’s Big Bang.
The set includes eight crème (finish is smooth, glossy, and vibrantly colored) shades in Sweet Life, Scream & Shout, Girl On Fire, Lara’s Theme, Harlem Shake, One More Night, Big Blue Note and Invincible; three shimmer (alluring, lustrous, and refined) shades in Bad Moon Rising, Sunshine Superman and Green Eyed Lady; and one glitter (fun, fashionable, and full of flash) shade in Sparks Fly.

Ladies (and gentleman, whatever floats ur boat), be prepared to swoon soooo hard. James Vincent McMorrow is back on the scene debuting the first single off Post-Tropical, a sultry, slinky R&B album, with drum machines and soul-inspired harmonies out January 14.
“Cavalier” features the seductive tones of one JVM, and a suuuper troubled (and hammered) young man.
